Andrew Pieter Mantel is Founder & Managing Director of Hong Kong-based Pacific Sun Investment Management and Portfolio Manager of The China Mantou Fund.
Mr. Mantel was the founding Portfolio Manager for China’s first ever fund management firm Shanghai International Asset Management, a joint venture between the Shanghai government and one of Taiwan’s largest business groups. He was with the firm from inception in 1992 until 1998 and was responsible for managing their listed securities portfolio.
Mr. Mantel also worked at Taipei-based Capital Securities where he helped open one of Taiwan’s first foreign institutional accounts in 1991 and prior to that he worked with Lehman Brothers in San Francisco. Altogether he has more than 16 years experience in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
Mr. Mantel has a B.A. in Economics from the University of California-Davis, a Diploma in Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and a M.A. in International Relations from The Flinders University of South Australia in conjunction with the China Business Centre of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
